PROGRAM NOTE:

This work is my first in a projected series of multimedia compositions employing music from the classical repertoire. The video component of this piece attempts to impose character on abstract shapes and forms within a surrealist space. The music of Bach is treated as a soundtrack to the silent ballet of the video. Though the video is fixed, there may be variation in how the music coincides with the video, and the video is used to inform the live interpretation of Bach Keyboard Suite. The sound of the Fender Rhodes - which I find to be a particularly expressive electronic keyboard - helps bridge the world of the Bach Suite with the animation style of the video. Some might view the Rhodes as an inappropriate instrument for the performance of Bach, but it is no more inappropriate than the modern piano.
